Church vitality is a condition we all hope to experience in our local congregation. When a congregation has vitality there is confidence in future possibilities, appreciation of the journey that brought us here and a celebration of God’s grace within us. There is a spirit of belonging, purpose, willingness, engagement, joy, authenticity, friendship and care. There is an unmistakable sense that God is among us and our soul’s spiritual and emotional yearnings will be satisfied and healed. The people who attend congregations that have this vitality also experience a deep satisfaction through their experience of corporate worship, learning, community service and ministry. All in all people feel a part of a faith community and near to the heart of God.
The essence of vitality is practically overwhelming when we think about it. As wonderful as the description above sounds, it is not near complete. That’s the unfathomable nature of vitality.
Now the natural question… How is vitality created? And what will happen when it has filled the atmosphere of your parish and of this diocese?
